Printing a Planning Report
Note: Depending on your user security rights, Planning Reports can be accessed from four report menus: Sales, Shipping, Purchasing and Inventory. Select the Planning Report option from the appropriate menu.
1. Once you have entered all of the required information needed to generate a Planning Report, command options will appear allowing you to print or choose from a set of other print options.
The following information prints on the Management Version of the Planning Report:
- Item Name – The item group ID code and item name
- Unit Cost – The current item cost based on the invoicing unit of measure.
An asterisk to the left of this number indicates that at least some part of this inventory is on hold. See Hold Lots Inquiry for information about inventory on hold.
- Current Inventory – The current on-hand inventory for the item, stated in the invoicing unit of measure or the stocking unit of measure depending on the UOM Planning Report setting in Department.
- Shipping Through MM/DD/YY– Routes are grouped into one of three planning cycles that divide the work day into three parts.
- For product-type items: Planning cycles are only used for generating reports for product-type items. The total amount of this item on open and priced sales orders that are shipping through the ship date selected.
- For In-Process type items: The calculation (current inventory/pounds per each), and the pounds per each factor are printed. Please refer to the section on Items for an explanation of In-Process type items.
- Future Demand MM/DD/YY– The total amount of this item shown on open and priced orders that are shipping through the future ship date selected
- PO Thru MM/DD/YY– The total amount of all open purchase orders based on the expected arrival date of the purchase order.
- Work Orders Planned – The total amount of this item on all open work orders. For raw materials, this is expressed as a negative number, since closing the work order will take away from this inventory. For finished goods, this is a positive number, since closing the work order will add to this inventory.
- Work Orders Needed – The total amount of this item that must be put up on a work order in order to fill all current demand. Only raw material items will ever have a number in this column.
The raw material and quantity needed is based on the primary raw material item on the bill of material of the finished goods item and the standard yield for the finished goods item or actual historical yield based on the Calculate Demand Using Standard Yields setting in Inventory Options.
- Action Required – The action that must be taken to resolve all inventory shortages. A negative amount for raw materials indicates that purchases need to be made. Negative amounts for finished goods indicate that work orders must be created and closed or product purchased. A blank in this field indicates no shortage exists, hence, no action required.
If Lot Detail was selected the following fields appear below the item:
- Loc – The warehouse location
- Lot – The lot number
- Date – The date the lot was opened
- On-Hand – The current on-hand lot balance
- Avail – The current available lot balance after all lot commitments
- UN Cost – The current unit cost for the lot. Will be the same if the costing method is weighed average for the item, will be the same for the location if the item costing within location is set to yes in Ledger Options, could be unique for each lot if the item costing method is individual lot.
- Item info lot attributes
- COO – The COOL Identity for the lot
Important: Current inventory + purchase orders + planned work orders – shipping total – work orders needed = action required.
The Floor version of the report will only report the current inventory, the "Shipping Thru" columns, and Future Sold columns.
